Yellowstone–the south loop

While we did consider the north loop our favorite, the south loop had some pretty amazing sights as well. And of course there was Old Faithful!!

We started off early enough, but we were only a few miles into the park when we came to a halt as the bison walked around and across the road and everyone slowed down to look and take pictures.

Once the bison were past then it was on to the geysers, hot spots, and beautiful colors:

And of course a stop at Old Faithful where we waited with the other 1000 people for her to blow her top! (why is it a she??)Everyone waiting for Old FaithfulDSCF8013DSCF8014DSCF8016DSCF8017DSCF8018

It was a little disconcerting walking around, even on the boardwalks!

DSCF8020We crossed the continental divide twice as we did the southern loop.

And then we came to Yellowstone’s large lake on the east side. Not very clear due to smoke in the area .                  DSCF8023And of course there were more bison!

This one I could have touched…not that I would!

Great pics -- we enjoyed Yellowstone last year. Be safe in your travels & don't run over one of those buffaloes -- they own the road!

Can't leave Yellowstone without seeing lots of bison. That's an unwritten rule. Maybe because "she" erupts every hour or so?
